I’m sure by now you’ve heard about Sweeva and hopefully have a general idea of how the site works. The basics are you view a site with other surfers, add your comments, vote on the site, and on to the next site. To get your site seen, you bid for a time and can be present for questions when your site is viewed. If that’s not clear, you can get the facts at the site.
For the first time ever, I can say that this is truly innovative and my hearty congratulations to the creators.
I joinined Sweeva 2 months ago,, here is my opinion of the site.
PRO - COMMENTING ON SITE BEING VIEWED
Huge, huge benefit here, and most unexpected. Because you gain points for commenting on a site, it really forces you to take a close look and see what you do like and don’t like. (Being able to say continuously that I don’t like autoplaying audios/videos has helped relieve some stress!) I’ve found this carries over into my other TE surfing, and I’m looking at the pages much more closely than I ever did, And I sometimes begin searching fruitlessly for the “thumbs down” button on other TEs when I’ve been “sweeving” for a while. Now obviously the real benefit here is getting inspiration and ideas for your own splash pages. A closer view does help you sort out what you like, and being able to get other viewpoints lets you know what others find appealing.
CON - COMMENTING ON SITE BEING VIEWED
There are several problems/difficulties with this one. Firstly, just saying “nice site” is not particularly helpful, so you have to think about what to say - ouch! I think we surfers are used to more mindlessness in our surfing. Secondly, after seeing the site for the umpteenth time, what is there left to say? I’ve already made my brilliantly incisive comment (lol)! Thirdly, and sadly, some users use the comments for spam or meanness. However, I’m sure they’ll be quickly weeded out.
PRO - VOTING ON SITE BEING VIEWED
The site itself is simple to use, and I was up and running in about 15 minutes. My first bid was accepted and I have received several positive comments on my splash page. I’m not sure about how many credits are used per view - my credits seemed to disappear quickly. But I haven’t looked into it closely enough to say.
The actual surfing is smooth and easy. The timer gives you plenty of time to comment on the site and vote. It’s interesting to read other people’s take on a site, and the big bonus is being able to ask the page owner questions.
CON - VOTING ON SITE BEING VIEWED
There really is no downside - the only difficulty is deciding how to vote, and all I can say about that is, thank goodness for the “unsure” choice!
PRO - BIDDING TO GET YOUR SITE SEEN
I expected to have trouble figuring this part out, but turns out it’s a very simple process. The beauty and genius of this method is that you get to be present when your site is viewed. You are able to answer any questions and interact with the people viewing your site. This for me is the best part of Sweeva.
CON - BIDDING TO GET YOUR SITE SEEN
So you might have to bid more to get your site seen during prime viewing times…not really a con.
A COUPLE OF CAVEATS
There is quite a bit of repetition as far as the sites go. You do see the same pages often so making a new comment is difficult. The other thing I’ve seen is people are getting awards for generic splash pages made by the sites rather than by the affiliates. Originality should be rewarded - using generic splashes shouldn’t.
A FEW FINAL THOUGHTS…
I confess, I was expecting to not like this type of surfing at all, and to my delight, I love it! It is rather addicitive and does make surfing other TEs seem such a solitary and mindless activity. I enjoy viewing a site with other surfers and seeing what they have to say. It’s great to be able to ask questions about a program before you decide to join.
Overall, Sweeva is truly innovative and different. If you haven’t tried it yet, jump in and take a look. This takes surfing to a whole new level.
