Few are those who can count their selves lucky enough to be entrepreneurs. A risk taker with initiative—that’s an entrepreneur. Surprisingly, in this economy, entrepreneurs seem to pop up everywhere.
With the very competitive job market, people have started to realize something. If bosses do not think they are hirable, then why not become their own boss? And that is the story behind today’s hottest occupation—being entrepreneurs.
Entrepreneurship is the answer for some. It helps pay their bills, keeps a roof over their heads and their families are fed.
The Oxford Dictionary defines an entrepreneur as some who “organizes and operates a business (initiative) while taking on higher than usual financial risks (risk-taker)”.
The latter statement does not mean an entrepreneur has to put up big capital/investment. On the contrary, it is not unheard of for an entrepreneur to start with just $20. Even Steve Jobs had to work out of his parents’ garage when he sowed the seeds for Apple Inc.
What the “higher than usual financial risk” statement could mean is that entrepreneurs have a lot at stake personally. An entrepreneur might for example need to go full-time entrepreneur. He might be forced to quit his daytime job. This entails great financial risk for the entrepreneur. A promise of a stable and regular income is eliminated. It is replaced with a promise of either potential success or agonizing failure.
But even then, there are still some entrepreneurs who practically had no financial risk. In the Philippines, Dr. Jaime Alip back in the 80’s started a micro-finance business with the equivalent of 40 cents. Now he is a billionaire and his enterprise, Card Bank is thriving.
His advocacy was to bring financial services to underserved markets. That is an example of a social entrepreneur. A social entrepreneur is someone who refuses to accept status quo. He believes he can change the world for the better. The community’s welfare is given precedence over the social entrepreneur’s own. And that is not at the cost of incurring losses as Dr. Alip’s billionaire status suggests.
The next kind of entrepreneur is a serial entrepreneur or someone who keeps coming up with innovative ideas. Risk is their heroine. Disruptive innovation is their middle name. The perfect example is none other than Steve Jobs himself. He constantly introduced game-changing products throughout his career. From the Apple computers of the 80’s to the sleek iPods, iPhones, and iPads, Steve Jobs never failed to impress.
A lifestyle entrepreneur values the pursuit of their passions over profit. They embrace the idea that what they do should be what they love. Sometimes these entrepreneurs would refuse to expand and diversify despite the opportunity. The reason? They want to maintain the sanctity of their passion-enterprise. The idea of commercialization can make them shudder. An exception? Skip Lowell and Murray Pletz. The two were avid hikers and they could never find a suitable backpack. Thus they made their own—JanSport. It was a brand that had a hiker’s needs in mind, and sure enough hikers’ worldwide agreed.
The last but certainly not the least kind of entrepreneur—the cooperative entrepreneur does not like to work alone. Each of them ideally brings something unique to the table. Together they create perfect harmony. Together they create something new. Again the perfect example would be Apple founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. Jobs did marketing; Wozniak did development.
The last example reveals that these kinds of entrepreneurs do not have to be mutually exclusive. There are not any rules set on stone for entrepreneurship. You could possibly even come up with your own new breed of entrepreneur!
There is much to be made in the road to entrepreneurship. If you cannot find a job, maybe you can create jobs. If you want to pursue this road but have your doubts, then seek professional help. Don't submit PLR articles without making changes!! There is so much PLR available today (free and otherwise) and it is very tempting to just grab it and use it. Don't do it. The purpose of these articles is to provide you with a basis for an article. Read it and rewrite it in your own words. Duplicate articles could be rejected by the article directories and the directories may just decide to ban your account.
Try to use good keywords in your article's title and also in the beginning of the first paragraph. Sprinkle your chosen keyword all over the article as well.
Most article directories allow you to use hyperlinks. For sophisticated and efficient article marketing try to use anchor text that relates to the keywords you are targeting. This will help you attain a better position in the SERP's (search engine result pages). If you are targeting the word "gardening tips" make sure to hyperlink to your website from each mention of the term in your article. This will help your gardening site be higher in the search results for the term "gardening tips".
Try to remember that people will be reading your article. Make it readable for them and don't just concentrate on the density of your keywords. If people don't enjoy reading the article, they won't bother reaching the end of it, which is where you will lead them to your site from the ever-important resource box!
